CEO Guide: What Makes an Effective Business Leader?

A business leader is whom people look up to in the organization and return motivates employees to achieve a common goal, may it be for profit increase, company expansion, or employee motivation, among others.

We’re sometimes too scared to admit it, but the success of a business whether it’s a small business or a huge company heavily rests on the shoulders of its leaders. Thus, every organization should have an effective leader.

I am John Frederick Furth, your provider of executive coaching programs for leadership development in New York City, New York. As an expert in this field, I’d like to share with you what an effective business leader is.

As a business owner coach, I’ve worked with effective business leaders in the business world and most of them share the following:

  • Curiosity

Someone who always seeks new ideas to innovate and continuously improve their company. This way, he/she can encourage his/her employees to be curious as well.

  • Skill to self-assess

A leader who knows to assess his/her strengths and weaknesses.

  • Good communication skills

Someone responsive to the needs of the group despite handling a diverse workforce or dispersed teams.

  • Has goal-setting ideas

A leader who knows how to design a step-by-step process to produce a certain goal in the organization.

  • Risk-taker

A business leader who is willing to deviate from conventional and risky ways to boost employee performance and solve problems in the organization.
